The Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the only state-level professional Chinese medicine museum in the country. Hu Qing Yu Tang was a Chiese pharmacy which began business in 1874. It had won a great fame during its development. People regarded it as the 'King of Medicine' in southern China. Hu Xueyan, the first owner of the pharmacy, was not only a successful businessman but also a high-class official in the imperial court. In China's feudal society, businessmen were widely looked down upon whereas state officials were highly respected. In the museum, visitors not only can appreciate the treasures of Chinese medicine, but also can view its magnificent architecture and learn more about Hu's legendary stories.

Hangzhou was China's capital during the Southern Song Dynasty more than 800 years ago, and Hangzhou’s urban Hefang Street has many shops, restaurants and taverns that represent its place in history. Hefang Street has stood the test of time, surviving through the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. Today it is still a prosperous marketplace. Most of the businesses and shops in Hefang Street are over 100 years old. Hefang Street wasn’t only the heart of old Hangzhou but was also the commercial center in ancient China. Walking along Hefang Street, you can enjoy shopping and snacking. Hefang Old Street also displays a variety of unique Chinese crafts, such as land-blown sugar candy, paper-cutting, and hand-made dough figurines.
